The police are currently investigating two turtle deaths after they were found dead with their shells shattered on Tuesday morning in a Sau Mau Ping estate and a Kowloon Bay estate, respectively.
Shortly before 7am today, a turtle was discovered with its shell shattered opposite Fu Wah Court on Hiu Kwong Street in Sau Mau Ping. It is suspected that the turtle had been thrown from a height.
Upon receiving a report from a resident, the police arrived at the scene and used a chair to cordon off the area where the turtle was found. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was contacted for assistance.
The incident has been classified as a case of animal cruelty, and an investigation is currently underway.

Separately, five hours later, another turtle was found after apparently falling from a height at Richland Gardens in Kowloon City.
At 12.37pm today, a pedestrian passing by Block 6 of Richland Gardens discovered a 15-centimeter turtle on the ground with its shell shattered, lying dead in its blood.
The police arrived at the scene and, suspecting that the turtle had fallen from a tall height, listed the case as an animal cruelty case for follow-up.
A cleaning worker later removed the turtle.
