Traffic is affected after an underground water pipe burst in Aberdeen on Thursday afternoon.
An underground water pipe on Wong Chuk Hang Road burst at 3pm today, near the pedestrian walkway outside Aberdeen Technical School, spewing water up to four stories high akin to a fountain causing nearby vehicles to slow down.
The Water Supplies Department (WSD) posted on their social media that they had received a report of a burst water pipe near Aberdeen Technical School this afternoon.
After investigation, it is understood that the water pipe is a 40mm diameter salt water supply pipe that supplies flushing water to the School.
The department added that emergency repair works will begin after 8pm today.
At the same time, the slow lane of Wong Chuk Hang Road towards Aberdeen Tunnel near Aberdeen Technical School is temporarily closed.
The WSD said that the engineering team will make every effort to repair the problem and restore the flushing water supply as well as reopen the affected lanes as soon as possible. The WSD apologized for the inconvenience caused to the public.
