Police have arrested two men and a woman in relation to the tragic death of a man who was fatally slashed over monetary conflicts in Fo Tan on Sunday.
According to police investigations, the 52-year-old victim surnamed Tam, was attacked by two assailants due to financial disputes. The attackers arrived at the area in a taxi to lay an ambush and fled via the same taxi after the assault.
Additionally, another member of the triad group was monitoring the victim's movements on-site and reporting the details to the attackers.
The individuals arrested are a 74-year-old man surnamed Wong, a 47-year-old man surnamed Wong, and a 29-year-old woman surnamed Chan, all locals.
The two men are associated with a local triad group. The relationship between the arrested individuals and their roles in the case is still under investigation.
The arrested woman, the girlfriend of the lookout, assisted him in fleeing to the mainland after the attack.
The incident occurred yesterday (Mar 16) when Tam was attacked by two assailants armed with knives around 5pm at the intersection of Sui Wo Road and Lai Wo Lane.
After the attack, the assailants hid in a building in Mong Kok. The police manhunt operation did not lead to any discovery, but officers have identified the lookout and the attackers.
The police stated that they cannot disclose the amount of money involved in the crime and are currently searching for the attackers, the lookout, and the weapon used in the crime.
Tam was left bleeding on the ground and was transported to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin, where he succumbed to his injuries at 6.08pm the same day.
