Van driver dies after crashing into stationary firetruck on West Kowloon Highway

A van driver died after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the back of a firetruck on West Kowloon Highway.

The van was said to be traveling along West Kowloon Highway when the accident occurred at around 2pm. 

The van lost control when approaching Olympian City and collided with the rear of a firetruck, which was stationary in the fast lane attending to another traffic accident.

The van driver suffered severe injuries and was trapped inside the driver’s compartment. Firefighters at the scene used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate the man before taking him to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

No other injuries were reported and an investigation is ongoing.
