To celebrate the collaboration with Formula 1 (F1), LEGO has unveiled a 1:1 scale replica of a Ferrari F1 car, which is currently making its way through the city's streets as part of a showcase tour.
The global toy giant kicked off the "Catch Me If You Can" event from Tuesday (Mar 4) to Friday (Mar 7), inviting local LEGO enthusiasts and racing fans to check out the stunning replica of the LEGO F1 Ferrari sports car at various locations around the city.
The impressive car model -- inspired by the Ferrari SF-24 F1 race car -- was crafted by Andy Hung Chi-kin, a LEGO Certified Professional from Hong Kong, using over 200,000 LEGO bricks.
It was learned that the design phase took more than 336 hours, while the assembly required an additional 1,300 hours.
The model meticulously captures the race car details, such as the steering system, gearbox, V6 engine, rear spoiler and prints on the tires, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship worthy of close attention.
The car will make its rounds across the city, ranging from Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Quarry Bay, North Point, Lai Chi Kok, Nam Cheong, Tsuen Wan to Kwai Fong.
For those who can not attend the tour, the 1:1 model will be on display at the Central Pier and Haiphong Road in Tsim Sha Tsui from 2pm to 6pm on March 8 and 9, respectively.
Apart from taking photos of the 1:1 car model, attendees can also participate in interactive games designed to explore the latest LEGO F1 sets and get discount coupons.
