Water charges adjustment set for announcement next year: sources

The proposal for an increase in water charges has not been included in the latest Budget, with sources saying that the adjustment would be announced as early as next year.

According to government sources, the Water Supplies Department has been consulting over 10 industry groups and gathering resident opinions on the price adjustment since last year.

It is reported that no strong opposition was observed, but the adjustment details have yet to be finalized. 

The sources further indicated the government will consider the feedback received, with the proposal scheduled to be submitted to the Legislative Council in 2025-26.
