Hongkongers can now taste Cantonese cuisine made with Qinghai specialties, including yak meat, Tibetan lamb, organic quinoa and wolfberries at Maxim’s Chinese Cuisine.

A total of 22 restaurants in the local restaurant chain, including Maxim’s Palace, Jade Garden, Serenade and Jasmine, will offer 13 Qinghai-themed dishes until March 31.
Customers can also purchase Qinghai-originating wolfberries and quinoa at these branches.
Former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, also vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said at a press conference that the introduction of Qinghai cuisine will help consolidate Hong Kong’s status as a food paradise.
"Ingredients from Qinghai is famous for being grown on plateaus — known for their green, organic and pollution-free qualities,” Leung said, adding that the new dishes will add fresh flavors to the culinary selection in Hong Kong.
He added that the city’s food testing services would also help products from Qinghai and other mainland cities enter overseas markets.
Qinghai, China's largest province by area in Northwestern China, borders the Tibet Autonomous Region to the southwest.
Three major rivers in China — the Yellow River, Yangtze and Lancang River— originate in the province.
