Octopus Card Limited has launched a digital yuan top-up service, allowing visitors to have a seamless payment experience in the city.

During the Lunar New Year holiday from January 19 to February 7, the company recorded over HK$100 million in tourists’ total spending, marking a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, consumer spending in retail increased significantly compared to other sectors.
The use of Octopus Apps for Tourists has skyrocketed by 80 percent compared to last year, reflecting the growing popularity of digital payment methods among travelers.
Tim Ying Tien-chi, chief executive of Octopus, stated the new digital yuan top-up services will offer visitors the same convenience as residents, supported by a widespread network of over 190,000 acceptance points throughout the city.
