A man who was reported missing on Friday morning was declared dead on Saturday night after being found in Kowloon Peak.
On the morning of Jan 31 (Fri), the police received a report from a woman stating that her 47-year-old husband had gone missing after leaving their residence at Sceneway Garden. This prompted the police to initiate a search.
At approximately 4.34 pm yesterday (Feb 1), the family discovered that the missing man's phone signal was located near the Kowloon Peak Suicide Wall area.
The police searched Kowloon Peak, and on the same day, firefighters located the missing man at around 6 pm at the bottom of Suicide Wall.
He was airlifted by the Government Flying Service to their headquarters while in an unconscious state, where he was later declared dead.
The cause of death is pending a forensic autopsy.
After an investigation, it was revealed that the victim, a 47-year-old man surnamed Wan, was a doctor. It is suspected that he committed suicide due to the overwhelming pressure of caring for his child.
Wan had practiced medicine in various districts and had been interviewed by the media, where he advocated for adult vaccination.
It is understood that Wan had previously confided in his wife about the immense pressure he felt from caring for their son, expressing thoughts of suicide.
