The 23-minute spectacle, set to begin at 8 pm tonight, will consist of nine scenes, deploying a total of 23,888 pyrotechnic shells from three barges.
The show will kick off with the lucky red number eight and gold ingots in the opening scene, "A Brand New Opening," followed by the second scene, "Blossoming Prosperity."
One of the highlights will be the eighth scene, showcasing six panda head-shaped fireworks, representing “An An”, “Ke Ke”, “Ying Ying” and “Le Le”, along with the two newborn panda twins, symbolizing reunion and happiness in the city.
The climax of the show will occur in the final act, “Harvesting Year of the Snake”, showcasing star pattern fireworks accompanied by the sound of gongs and drums, wishing for prosperity for the nation and peaceful lives for all.
Meanwhile, the facades of the HSBC Main Building and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will present a new LED light show to accompany the fireworks displays.
The Victoria Harbour fireworks display will be visible from various spots like Tsim Sha Tsui, Mid-Levels, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, East Coast Park Precinct in Fortress Hill, and Hung Hom Bypass.
Viewers are also encouraged to listen to Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 4 (FM97.6 to 98.9) for music synchronized with the fireworks display.
To enhance the viewing experience, phased road closures began at 5 pm at Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom Waterfront Promenade. Additional phased closures begun at 5.30 pm in the Central District, including Wan Chai, the Island Eastern Corridor, and the Central-Wan Chai Bypass, with the exception of the Golden Bauhinia Square.
The Hong Kong Observatory has forecast an increase in clouds tonight, but these are relatively high and are not expected to obstruct the view of the fireworks.
