John Lee urges media to report initiatives and developments advantageous to HK

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu stated that the Hong Kong News-Expo (HKNE) not only highlights the history and development of journalism in Hong Kong but also underscores the vital importance of press freedom in the city.

In a video speech delivered at the 6th Anniversary Symposium of the HKNE, Lee expressed the hope that the press would continue to leverage its professional capabilities to report on government initiatives and new developments that are advantageous to Hong Kong. 

He emphasized the importance of undertaking thorough analyses of the new dynamics and opportunities emerging within this context, and urged all sectors of society to actively embrace these opportunities.

Given the industry's opportunities and challenges, including digital transformation and evolving business environments, he said professional journalists must proactively identify, respond to, and seek out change while embracing innovation. 

Lee asserts that professional journalists possess the potential to uphold core professional values, maintain integrity, and foster innovation, enabling them to achieve high-quality development driven by competence, courage, and vision.
