?A new section of the GreenWay, about 500 meters long, at the Kai Tak Promenade in the western part of the former runway area is open to the public from Friday.
It is the second section of the GreenWay opened for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists in the Kai Tak Development.
The newly opened section is situated alongside Victoria Harbour, offering users scenic views. With a width of about six meters, the GreenWay provides sufficient space for shared use by pedestrians and cyclists.
Ground markings have been added along the GreenWay to guide pedestrians and cyclists to keep to their respective sides to maintain an appropriate distance from each other and enhance safety.
Signs and speed-reducing rumble strips have been put in place at some locations to prevent cyclists from going too fast. Bicycle parking spaces are also available at the GreenWay.
Moreover, a barrier-free walkway for pedestrians runs alongside the GreenWay, offering an additional option for the public.
A government spokesman said ambassadors will be present at the GreenWay to provide appropriate reminders to users at the initial stage after the opening. Banners listing relevant rules for users have also been put up on-site.
The government will step up publicity to enhance public understanding of the merits of the GreenWay and safety awareness, said the spokesman.
