The event features eight impressive installations, including Lucky Cat and Daruma figures, both symbols of prosperity in Japanese culture. Visitors can interact with these larger-than-life characters while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere filled with rewards and blessings for the Lunar New Year.
Upon entering the ground floor of Citygate Outlets, the first sight is a four-meter-tall Lucky Cat, standing on a platform adorned with chocolate brown and milk white Nestlé® KITKAT® bars.
Behind this charming installation is a display of 128 traditional flower lanterns, handcrafted by over a hundred students using Japanese washi paper.
As visitors ascend to the Atrium on L2, they will encounter a nearly six-meter-tall Torii at the entrance to the ‘Shrine of Love.’ This three-story structure, inspired by traditional Japanese shrine gates, features a lucky red hue reminiscent of solar flames and the creamy color of KITKAT®’s iconic white chocolate, adorned with playful patterns. Two Darumas flank the gate, enhancing luck with their auspicious presence.
Inside the blooming Torii hangs a stunning two-meter-tall Japanese lantern, inspired by the great lantern of Asakusa Kannon Temple in Tokyo. Crafted by local artisan Mo Cheng, this exquisite piece took over 330 hours to complete.
Visitors can discover even more engaging installations on Level 2 of Citygate Outlets!
KITKAT® will also unveil special Chinese New Year gift boxes and a new Milo® Chocolate sharing bag, adding to the excitement with their renowned range of flavors.
As part of the festivities, Citygate Outlets will host a variety of cultural performances, including a Japanese dance by the Yosakoi Soran Team ‘Hiragishi Tenjin’ and a traditional lion dance parade complete with an eye-dotting ceremony, ensuring a lively and engaging experience for all attendees.
As Lunar New Year approaches, shopping malls across Hong Kong are preparing to celebrate the festive season with captivating installations. If you're looking for weekend plans, consider spending quality time with family and friends while capturing precious moments at these vibrant shopping centers!
