An American passenger was pronounced dead on Saturday night after fainting in his room aboard the cruise ship "Silver Dawn," which was docked at the Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday (Jan 4). A cruise ship employee reported to the police that a 66-year-old American man was found unconscious in his room.
Rescuers were dispatched to the scene and transported the man to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy. It has been noted that the deceased had a history of heart disease.
Following the incident, police officers boarded the cruise ship to conduct an investigation.
It is understood that the "Silver Dawn" arrived at the Ocean Terminal at 8 am on Saturday (Jan 4) and is scheduled to depart at 2 pm on Sunday (Jan 5).
The ship, which made its maiden voyage in 2021, carries 596 passengers and has a total tonnage of over 40,000 tons.
