The AIA Healthiest Schools Competition 2024/25, organized by AIA Group Limited, is calling for applications from both primary and secondary schools. The winning school from each category will be awarded US$50,000 to support its efforts in building a healthy school community and bringing positive impacts to the local community.
Launched in 2022, the AIA Healthiest Schools Competition is a key component of the AIA Healthiest Schools Programme. The programme aims to help schools nurture healthy habits and lifestyles in students by providing teachers with free, engaging curriculum-linked resources developed by educators covering the themes of Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyles, Mental Wellbeing, and Health and Sustainability.
Schools are invited to enter the competition by sharing their methodology and success stories in creating a healthy school environment. The winners from Hong Kong will compete in the Regional Competition against winners from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam for the title of Regional Winner.
This year, the programme has expanded to include secondary schools, according to Melissa Wong, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of AIA Hong Kong and Macau.
“Expanding the AIA Healthiest Schools Programme to both primary and secondary schools not only supports our commitment to help people live ‘Healthier, Longer, Better Lives’, but also encourages more students to develop holistically via healthy habits and lifestyles,” explains Wong. She also looks forward to having all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong joining the AIA Healthiest Schools Programme.
Last year, Ying Wa Primary School was selected as the Hong Kong winner of AIA Healthiest Schools Competition 2023/24. The school stands out with its unique and acclaimed Forest Programme which includes 23 topics and 115 outdoor learning classes per year, providing students with learning opportunities beyond the classroom to engage with nature.
Ying Wa Primary School made use of the US$50,000 prize to incorporate new elements into the Forest Programme, including snorkelling, mangrove forest exploration, bird watching, and school-based hiking certification programme. The school also extended the Forest Programme to promote health and wellbeing to parents and the local community.
Registration for the programme has commenced with free teaching resources available to teachers from primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong at http://ahs.aia.com/hk.
All schools are invited to share the fruits of their programme at the AIA Healthiest Schools Competition 2024/25 on or before 8 March 2025. Together, let’s build healthy school communities and live “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives”.
