They also received souvenirs from Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki and Cathay Pacific chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau Hoi-zee.
“This is a precious opportunity that you will not have chances like this flying from Hong Kong to Hong Kong in the future,” Chan said at the opening ceremony.
“I am delighted to be a passenger on the community flight again, hope you all enjoy this meaningful flight,” Chan announced on the plane.
“I have never thought about being on a plane, not to mention being on it because I am scared of heights,” secondary two student Lau said. “Stepping out of my comfort zone is to push myself,” he added.
Cindy, a secondary two student was excited to fly over Hong Kong for the first time as she has been on a plane only once from the mainland.
Her mentor, Michelle To, who worked in Cathay Pacific’s inflight service department, said they had a mutual exchange between generations, allowing her to understand the younger generation and benefiting her in encouraging new colleagues at work.
Chan thanked Cathay Pacific for its support, which allowed grassroots to broaden their horizons.
Cathay has earlier invited about 2,500 students and mentors to participate in the aviation experience day and visit its airport facilities related to aviation catering services and air cargo service.
