Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has arrived in Lima, Peru, to attend the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, embarking on his inaugural visit to South America.

According to his social media post published on Thursday, the city leader expressed excitement about the "significant trip" and looked forward to the meeting scheduled on Saturday.
Lee will participate in the APEC Leaders' Informal Dialogue with Guests, the APEC Leaders' Dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council, and the Gala Dinner on Friday.
He will also attend bilateral meetings with leaders from other economies to exchange views on mutual interests and engage with local business leaders in Lima.
Meanwhile, he highlighted that Hong Kong will sign a free trade agreement with Peru this week, covering trade in goods and services, investment, and other related areas.
