Man dies after falling into Tsing Yi waters during Tropical Storm Toraji

A man died after falling into Tsing Yi waters on Thursday morning while the No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal was hoisted under Tropical Storm Toraji.

During the No. 8 signal amidst Toraji, a middle-aged man was found floating in the sea at Tam Kon Shan Road, opposite Northeast Park in Tsing Yi, shortly before 7 am today, passing citizens reported the incident.

Rescue workers arrived after receiving the report.

The victim was rescued and was taken to Yan Chai Hospital by ambulance for medical attention while in an unconscious state, but he was eventually pronounced dead.

Sources at the scene said the deceased man was wearing a T-shirt and jeans.

The police are investigating the cause of the incident.
