Multiple airlines canceled at least 44 flights between Hong Kong and Taiwan from Tuesday to Thursday, as Super Typhoon Krathon approached Taiwan's populous southwest coast.
Cathay Pacific announced that 16 flights to and from Taipei as well as Kaohsiung scheduled for Tuesday to Thursday have been canceled, and all affected passengers have been notified.
The airline said more flights to and from Taipei may be canceled or delayed in the next 24 to 48 hours, suggesting passengers change or postpone their travel plans.
According to the forecast by the Observatory, Krathon will gradually track northwards and move across Taiwan on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Express canceled four flights to and from Taichung that were scheduled on Thursday, among a total of 24 canceled flights between Hong Kong and Taiwan's major cities taking off on Wednesday and Thursday.
Passengers traveling to or from Taichung on affected days can change their landing or departure to Taipei or Kaohsiung free of charge.
Hong Kong Airlines announced that four flights to and from Taipei have also been canceled on October 2 and 3.
As for Greater Bay Airlines, a pair of flights to and from Taipei on Wednesday have been canceled.
