Sources said the Tai Po District Office is planning a "Parade, drone and variety show" along the Lam Tsuen River that features the popular mainland cartoon character "Naloong."
With the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China around the corner, the 18 District Offices are busy organizing celebratory events.
In its planning, the drone show will display 3D images representing Tai Po's landmarks in the night sky and aims to attract over 100,000 visitors, according to sources.
Other activities include a night tour of Lam Tsuen River with a floating platform for an opening ceremony, and a parade showcasing Tai Po's traditional performances like dragon and lion dances, as well as a marching band.
The performance team plans to start from the Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square and parade along Ting Kok Road, Tai Wo Road, Nam Wan Road, Plover Cove Road Mini Soccer Pitch and Kwong Fuk Bridge, hoping to showcase the characteristics of Tai Po.
The Tai Po District Civil Affairs Office has held a 6-day "Wish for You" Bazaar for the first time on Valentine's Day this year, attracting 20,000 people. Given the success, the District Office is planning a "National Day Market" on September 21 near the Tai Po Arts Centre, featuring food stalls and handicraft vendors, to be held concurrently with the drone show.
