Cheung Chau's iconic Kam Wing Tai Fish Balls shuts down next week

Kam Wing Tai Fish Balls, a snack store with over 40 years of history in Cheung Chau, will shut its doors next Thursday (Aug 15).

Many netizens expressed sadness over the closure, with comments pitying the loss of their beloved fish balls and stuffed tofu puffs. 

Long customer queues were seen outside the shop today, and a staff member confirmed the closure news.

Some people claimed the stall was closing because the female owner recently passed away, and her family decided not to continue the business.

Kam Wing Tai Fish Balls, situated near the ferry pier on Cheung Chau, has been a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic Hong Kong street food experience. 

The Hong Kong Tourism Board describes the stall as a local gem, known for its classic fish balls as well as a variety of other meatballs and seafood balls, including the unique triangle-shaped offerings.
