Two more suspects - with one as young as 10 – were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the smash and grab at a Tsim Sha Tsui watch shop, bringing the total arrested to four.
The newly caught suspects, both minors, were believed to be among the three armed robbers who scooped up 20 watches worth HK$3.7 million on Monday afternoon at the watch shop on Canton Road.
Sources said the one arrested last night is a Pakistani boy aged only 10, as shown on his Hong Kong identity card. He was said to be wearing school uniform and a casual jacket before wielding a hammer during the heist.
The boy, about 1.7 meters tall, was taken back to Tsim Sha Tsui at around 4pm today for crime scene reconstruction. It was learned that he received about HK$5,000 as reward before skipping class to participate in the robbery.
Another suspect, a 14-year-old Indian boy, was nabbed on Wednesday. He was said to be a Form 1 student studying in Kwun Tong and also wearing school uniform when committing the crime.
He hid in a guesthouse in Yuen Long before the police tracked him down and arrested him.
Police recovered all 20 stolen watches in a backpack in the woods of Kowloon Peak and arrested a 19-year-old Pakistani Hong Kong identity card holder on the same day the crime was reported.
Later that night, officers arrested a 17-year-old Pakistani Hong Kong identity card holder, who believed is the brother of one of the suspects. He is understood to have lied to officers by claiming not to know any of those who carried out the robbery, while sources said he is not believed to have participated in the robbery.
