The Cha Kwo Ling Promenade in Kwun Tong officially opened today (Thu), as well as the adjacent Tsui Ping Seaside, connecting the waterfront of Cha Kwo Ling and Kwun Tong.
An underground balancing facility with a storage capacity of 16,000 cubic meters – equivalent to 6.4 Olympic-sized swimming pools – was constructed to enhance the effectiveness of sewage treatment.
The department also developed the roof floor of the pumping station into a landscaped deck, which joins with the adjacent waterfront area to form the 1.8-hectare Cha Kwo Ling Promenade.
A pavilion, landscaped areas, lawns, children's play facilities, fitness equipment and more are available at the promenade. The waterfront area serves as an inclusive park for animals where the public can bring their pets.
The department also completed the cross-river walkway of the Tsui Ping Seaside under the Revitalization of Tsui Ping River project ahead of schedule.
Together with the space released by an upgrading of the nearby Kwun Tong Preliminary Treatment Works, it connects the waterfront area of about 1.7-kilometers that runs through Kwun Tong and Cha Kwo Ling.
People can walk directly from Exit B1 of the MTR Kwun Tong Station to the promenade in about 13 minutes.
The public can also take a bus or a minibus to Kwun Tong Ferry Pier and then walk about five minutes across the Kwun Tong Promenade and over the cross-river footbridge of Tsui Ping Seaside to the promenade.
