Hong Kong's 59-strong rescue team arrives in Türkiye to aid Adana

The 59-strong team led by the deputy chief fire officer Yiu Men-yeung arrived at Istanbul Airport in Türkiye at 4pm Thursday Hong Kong time ready to aid the rescue mission in earthquake-hit Adana.  

According to the social media of the Security Bureau, the majority of the rescue workers reported for duty and were briefed as they waited for transit at the airport before heading to Adana.  

The team comprises 59 people, including 49 firefighters and ambulancemen from Fire Services Department's Urban Search and Rescue Team. Other members include officers from the Security Bureau, the Immigration Department and the Department of Health, as well as doctors and nurses.  

The rescue team also brought rescue equipment weighing 8 tons, including life detectors and tools for cutting concrete, as well as two search-and-rescue dogs.
