Another 69 Covid-19 cases were reported at Kwai Chung Estate as health officials warned about hidden transmissions in Wong Tai Sin.
The Centre for Health Protection reported a total of 109 new Covid cases today, 98 of them were local infections. There were also more than 100 preliminary positive cases.
Chuang said 69 local infections were detected from the Kwai Chung Estate, bringing the total number of patients at the estate to more than 230 people.
Of the 69 cases, 27 are residents or visitors of Yat Kwai House, 33 are connected to Ying Kwai House, and nine are linked to other blocks at the estate.
The number of infections linked to the estate also grows. A construction site on Victory Avenue in Ho Man Tin saw eight more workers infected, after a worker who stayed at Ying Kwai House was previously diagnosed of Covid.
Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch, said on Monday that health officials have found both the Delta and Omicron variants in sewage samples taken in Wong Tai Sin.
Chuang suspected that there may be hidden Covid transmissions within the area and called on residents of Wong Tai Sin to get tested for Covid.
Two confirmed cases were found at Block 1 of Tropicana Gardens in Wong Tai Sin, while a third person tested preliminary positive. All of them lived in unit E on different levels of the block.
One of the three has recently purchased a hamster, according to Chuang.
All residents who live in unit E are sent to quarantine after government advisor Yuen Kwok-yung visited the estate.
Yuen said the first case in the block purchased a hamster from pet shop I Love Rabbit in Mong Kok.
