"The streamlining arrangements aim to release lesson time and enhance flexibility of learning and teaching for teachers and students," it said.
Following the announcement of the cancellation of the speaking examination of Chinese Language and the School-based Assessment (SBA) of Liberal Studies in late October this year, nine other subjects will also have their SBA canceled.
The nine subjects include Chinese Literature, Literature in English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science (Combined/Integrated Science), Technology and Living, Information and Communication Technology, and Health Management and Social Care.
Meanwhile, four subjects' SBA will be streamlined.
The Chinese Language SBA will reduce its weighting from 20 percent to 10 percent of the subject total. In comparison, the SBA for Design and Applied Technology will also see its weighting of the subject total reduced from 40 percent to 20 percent.
The weighting of the subject total of SBAs for English Language and Visual Arts remains unchanged, but the English speaking task will be reduced from two to one, and the number of artwork/critical studies required will be reduced from 4 to 2 pieces.
The HKEAA has also approved the streamlining of public examinations for different subjects, including Chinese History, Economics, Geography, Business, Accounting, and Financial Studies.
