Fifteen students have been awarded a HK$50,000 scholarship which could assist them to pursue their dreams and career plans.
The “For Our Future” scholarship, launched by the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation, aims to support the students’ academic studies and future development and has received nearly 300 applications from 13 educational institutions.
According to the foundation, most of the awardees come from ordinary families. Some of the awardees’ parents are working in the catering, tourism, and decor sectors, which have been affected by the pandemic.
The foundation hopes the scholarship could provide timely assistance to the awardees who are excellent in their studies and multi-talented.
“As demonstrated by the excellent performance of the 15 awardees of the For Our Future Scholarship, we can see a promising new generation with boundless talent, energy, and social commitment arising,” said Daryl Ng Win-kong, chairman of the foundation.
Ng also said the foundation will organize exchange tours for the 15 awardees to go to mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, visiting universities such as Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University, and the South China University of Technology.
They will also visit corporations including China Resources, Tencent, and Da-Jiang Innovations, Ng added.
“Other than the awardees, the foundation will also invite 200 students out of all the award applicants to join the Greater Bay Area experiential tours. We believe the tours will help them better understand and plan their future career development in the Greater Bay Area,” Ng said.
