The Hospital Authority said two more confirmed coronavirus patients have died, raising the death toll to 77.
One of them is an 82-year-old female patient from Prince of Wales Hospital. Another is a patient from the Caritas Medical Centre.
As at 9 am today, there are 690 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals, 63 percent are in use. 1,251 negative pressure beds activated, half of them are in use.
44 Covid-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 4,018.
A total of 536 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized in 20 public hospitals, a community isolation facility and a community treatment facility, among which 26 patients are in critical condition, 38 are in serious condition and the remaining 472 patients are in stable condition.
Adding on, a 44-year-old female Indonesian domestic helper in Eastern Hospital is tested positive in the preliminary Covid-19 test yesterday.
She was admitted to the medicine ward for chemotherapy on July 27 due to leukemia; on that day, her test result for Covid-19 was negative.
The female patient had a fever on August 9 and started coughing on August 13.
The Centre for Health Protection said one of her employers was confirmed with Covid-19 on July 28.
The Centre for Health Protection thought the domestic helper was quarantined with the employer’s family at home, as employers did not inform CHP that the helper was admitted to the hospital at the time.
52 people who had close contact with her during her stay at two wards in the hospital will be isolated, none have tested positive for Covid-19 so far, the Centre for Health Protection said.
