The Immigration Department received enquiries from one Hongkonger in Iran and later confirmed that the citizen has left the war-hit region.
This came as flights in parts of Iran have been suspended due to the armed conflicts between Iran and Israel.
The department said after receiving the enquiries, it immediately provided the latest information on available flights and referred the case to the Chinese embassy in Iran for follow-up.
The department said it will closely monitor the latest development of the conflict and will maintain communications with the Travel Industry Authority, the Commissioner’s Office of the Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong, and both embassies in Iran and Israel.
Hong Kong residents in Iran may call the 24-hour assistance hotline at (852) 1868, call the hotline by network data call via the department mobile application, send messages to 1868 WhatsApp assistance hotline or fill in an Online Assistance Request Form to seek assistance.
The red outbound travel alert on Iran and Israel remains in force, indicating significant threat in the two regions as citizens are advised to adjust travel plans and avoid non-essential travel.
