A 51-year-old man was murdered in Hung Shui Kiu during the early hours of Monday in an attack allegedly linked to a HK$4 million illicit cigarette distribution dispute. Police have arrested 13 local suspects, including the alleged mastermind, following an investigation into the coordinated assault.
The victim, surnamed Tsang, was a divorced father of three with a previous conviction for illicit cigarette trafficking. According to sources, he had reportedly stolen approximately HK$4 million worth of contraband cigarettes from suppliers after allegedly not receiving payment for six months of distribution work.
The attack unfolded around midnight when approximately a dozen assailants initially went to the victim's container home in Tin Shui Wai's San Sang Tsuen but found him absent. They instead captured his nephew who had arrived for a visit, binding and blindfolding him before using his phone to lure the victim back to the location.

When Tsang returned home around 1:00am in a seven-seater vehicle, assailants in two private cars intercepted and surrounded his vehicle. After a brief chase on foot, attackers armed with choppers struck the victim's right head area. The assailants initially placed the injured man back into his vehicle but fled after he apparently succumbed to blood loss, abandoning his body under a bridge on Yick Yuen Road.
The nephew was released at an unknown location around 6:00am and reported to Yuen Long Police Station four hours later with minor eye abrasions. New Territories North Regional Crime Unit is investigating with charges including murder, unlawful imprisonment, and assisting offenders.
