Leung Chai-yan, the daughter of former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, was found dead at the age of 33 in her residence last night.
Leung Chun-ying confirmed the passing of his elder daughter through a social media post at around 5am on Wednesday.
Leung said his daughter passed away "very suddenly" and "leaving no words behind," noting that she was found lying peacefully in bed.
He added that the police investigation has ruled out any indication of suicide or any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Leung Chai-yan was found dead at around 10.40pm on Tuesday in her residence located at Lanson Place in Shau Kei Wan as police received a report stating that a woman was found unconscious in her room of the service apartment.
She was pronounced dead by the paramedics at the scene. The case was listed as "body found" by the police.
Sources said Leung Chun-ying and his younger daughter, Leung Chung-yan, arrived at the scene in the early hours of Wednesday.

Leung Chai-yan was born on September 11, 1991, and received her early education at the German-Swiss International School (GSIS) before continuing her studies at Wycombe Abbey School in the United Kingdom.
In 2010, she completed her secondary education and subsequently enrolled in the Law School at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She took a leave of absence from her studies in June 2013.

According to reports from Sing Tao Headline, a sister publication of The Standard, there are indications that Leung Chai-yan may experience challenges related to depression and anxiety.
In a social media post by Leung Chai-yan in March, she wrote, "I'm stressed, I'm tired, I'm sick. And no I won't stop whining."

She also wrote, "The shattering of a heart when being broken is the loudest quiet ever" after two days and left a message asking internet users to share their heartbreak stories.
