In the bustling landscape of Hong Kong, a citizen recently discovered a "secret spot" under a flyover in North Point on social media, earning it the title of "the most beautiful under-bridge spot in the city" by the online community for its breathtaking scenery.
The citizen unveiled the hidden gem on the social media platform Threads, along with a photo of a stunning sunset under the Island Eastern Corridor on the East Coast Boardwalk.
Connecting the harbourfront from Fortress Hill to Quarry Bay, visitors can enjoy views of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai and the skyscrapers in Central, as well as the coastline stretching from West Kowloon Cultural District to Kai Tak across the water.
The Boardwalk is divided into eight themed areas, with the secret spot located at "Sun Wave," the starting point of the Western Section where visitors can catch the sunset from various angles on the cascade seats.
The post has sparked a flurry of endorsement among web users, many praising the beautiful scenery and noting the view was worth the visit.
Some commenters also shared photos from other spots along the East Coast Boardwalk, expressing excitement about returning to chase sunsets in the upcoming summer.
Spanning approximately 2.2 kilometers, the East Coast Boardwalk is divided into Eastern and Western Sections, with the 1.1 kilometers Western Section officially opened in January, linking the East Coast Park Precinct and the North Point Promenade.
The Boardwalk is designed with the concept of "Citywaves," featuring open spaces for pedestrians, joggers, cyclists and pet owners, and facilities including cascade seating for sunset viewing, a play area, hill-shaped climbing facilities, viewing and fishing platforms.
The Western Section of the East Coast Boardwalk will open round the clock, while the Eastern Section of the Boardwalk, connecting the North Point Promenade and Quarry Bay, is set to open to the public by the end of 2025.
