Police are currently searching for a male driver who lost control and crashed his vehicle along the Fanling Highway on Sunday afternoon. The incident resulted in the hospitalization of a female passenger.
At around 1pm, a sedan traveling towards Yuen Long on the Fanling Highway veered out of control near Wo Hop Shek. The car skidded along the water barriers, causing significant damage to the front of the vehicle, which was seen smoking shortly after the crash.
Both the male driver and female passenger sustained injuries. The woman was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
During their investigation, police noted the absence of the male driver at the scene and have launched a search to determine his whereabouts.
Eyewitness videos uploaded online show the injured driver with his face covered in blood, and bloodstains were also visible on his clothing. Despite his injuries, he appeared conscious and was able to move independently.
Another image circulating online captured the female passenger lying on the ground with the male driver kneeling beside her while paramedics provided assistance.
The accident footage reveals that the sedan was traveling in the fast lane and lost control while navigating a bend. The vehicle then collided with a water barrier, causing water to spray across the area before the car rolled to a stop.
Following the crash, the male driver was seen exiting the sedan on his own. The section of the Fanling Highway near Wo Hop Shek was temporarily closed but has since reopened. However, residual traffic congestion continues as authorities work to clear the area.
