The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will implement a new five-year strategic plan under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor and President Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, according to the University.
The newly appointed leader said he will establish an interdisciplinary task force to formulate the plan, outlining the University's development roadmap from 2026 to 2030.
The team will address issues regarding student experience, alumni engagement, research and innovation, and the sustainable development of the CUHK Medical Centre.
Meanwhile, Lo highlighted his priority of incorporating master's and doctoral students into the University's college system, inspired by his experiences in graduate colleges at Oxford and Cambridge.
He also emphasized a dual focus on both the humanities and the sciences, along with a vision to position the University as a hub for international talent.
Furthermore, he expressed concern about how the University should respond to the rise of generative artificial intelligence.
"It may be a useful assistant in genomics research, for analyzing radiographs and other applications," he said, noting that the University must remain vigilant regarding ethical, intellectual property, and professional responsibility issues that may arise.
