The Hong Kong government has updated the list of universities qualifying for the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS), effective January 1, 2025, expanding opportunities for global talent to engage with its educational sector by adding 199 institutions based on recent global rankings.
This update reflects the latest changes in the rankings of the top 100 universities worldwide, based on a thorough evaluation conducted over the past five years using four prominent global university rankings: the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, the US News & World Report's Best Global Universities Rankings, and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Notably, the updated list also highlights premier institutions offering specialized programs in hospitality and leisure management. The selection of the top five universities in this discipline comes from the QS World University Rankings, emphasizing the quality and reputation of these educational providers in catering to the needs of the hospitality sector.
Moreover, starting on November 1 of this year, the aggregate list will expand to include additional specialized institutions. This includes the top five institutions recognized for excellence in the field of "Art and Design," as determined by the QS World University Rankings over the past five years.
Furthermore, the list will feature the top 20 ranked Mainland Chinese universities, as identified in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Best Chinese Universities Ranking, highlighting the depth of academic excellence available within the region.
This comprehensive update aims to enhance Hong Kong's appeal as a global education hub, attracting talented individuals who seek to further their studies and contribute to the vibrant culture and economy of the region.
