Deputy labour and welfare chief Angelina Kwan appointed as new broadcast boss

Angelina Kwan Yuen-yee, the Deputy Secretary for Labour and Welfare (Manpower), will take the helm as Director of Broadcasting starting January 6 next year.

Kwan will take up the post as incumbent broadcasting chief Eddie Cheung Kwok-choi was appointed as the Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Environment) starting in 2025.

Kwan does not possess a journalism background, but instead joined the administrative service in 1996 and served in various departments and bureaus including the Social Welfare Department, Housing Department, Security Bureau and the Chief Executive's Office.

"Kwan is a seasoned Administrative Officer with proven leadership and management skills," said Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan. "I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the community with professionalism in her new capacity."
