Speaking in the Legislative Council meeting on Wednesday, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung noted that the two surfers, who were surfing at Big Wave Bay Beach during the hoisting of red flags at the unclosed beach last Friday (Oct 25), are suspected of violating the Bathing Beaches Regulations.
Tang added that the LCSD has instituted one prosecution against illegal water sports activities conducted within the areas of gazetted beaches over the past three years as the red flag is up.
