A fire erupted at the Kwun Tong apm shopping mall on Thursday morning, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident began around 8 a.m. when police and firefighters were alerted to thick smoke billowing from the mall.
Upon arrival at the scene on Kwun Tong Road, emergency services discovered that the fire originated in a warehouse unit of a supermarket located on the 11th floor.
Firefighters quickly deployed hoses and extinguished the blaze promptly.
Despite the rapid response, smoke spread through the corridors, elevator entrances, and several floors above the source of the fire.
In response to the emergency, workers from the 11th to 18th floors were evacuated and gathered in the lobby downstairs.
They remained there until the smoke had cleared sufficiently for them to safely return upstairs.
After a preliminary investigation, firefighters suspect that the fire was caused by a short circuit in an electrical wire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
