As the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) exam results will be released on Wednesday (July 17), some government officials emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset to help candidates overcome challenges.
"The results of public exams conclude only one's past efforts, however, they do not determine the future," Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po wrote in his blog on Sunday. "Ups and downs are inevitable in life, but a positive and perseverant mindset lasts a lifetime."
Chan noted that the government has been promoting the development of innovation and technology and diversifying the economic structure, hoping to provide quality employment options for young people.
The finance chief mentioned that authorities have encouraged schools to promote science education to stimulate students' interest in innovation and technology development.
Chan stated that candidates can open up new horizons for their future by embracing change and moving forward with perseverance.
Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the results of public exams are not everything.
She underlined the importance of a resilient mindset, encouraging DSE candidates never to give up.
Yeung said there are numerous paths for young people to pursue their dreams as long as they work hard and reminded candidates interested in serving society to learn about related government positions to prepare for their future careers.
