Suspected outbreak of Covid-19 cases in Ruttonjee Hospital

Ruttonjee Hospital announced on Thursday that they have found 15 people infected with Covid-19 on a ward and have conducted measures in accordance with established guidelines.

The spokesman stated today that they found 12 male and two female patients aged between 33 and 88 on an infirmary ward of Ruttonjee Hospital who have been presenting with fever and testing positive for Covid-19 since June 27.

All patients are being treated in cohort isolation and are in stable condition.

Moreover, a staff member on the ward had the onset of a fever and cough on June 30 and tested positive for Covid-19, they remain in a stable condition.

They stated that admission to the ward has been suspended, and visitor restrictions have been imposed.

Thorough cleaning and disinfection measures have been conducted, along with stepping up infection control measures according to established guidelines.  

The hospital will continue to closely monitor the situation. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.
