The five art projects under "Art@Harbour2024" (AAH) have been a tremendous success, as the event has received more than 7 million visitors in total since its opening in March, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said on Monday.
The large-scale event closed on June 8. The art projects "teamLab: Continuous" and "Science in Art," held in Tamar Park and the Central and Western District Promenade recorded a total attendance of over 1.3 million, 20 percent of which were tourists.
The other three projects – including Alicja Kwade's sculpture "l'ordre des mondes (Totem)," the "Chromaflux" and the "Voyage with Van Gogh" had received more than 2 million visitors, respectively.
LCSD said the visitor numbers have exceeded the original estimate of over 2 million in total attendance.
The AAH was first launched in 2022 as an innovative integration of art, science, and technology. Art pieces by local and international artists created a sensational visual feast for the public along the waterfronts of the Victoria Harbour.
The project aims to offer the locals and tourists a rich experience through art creation while transforming Hong Kong into an East-meets-West center for international cultural exchange.
