Hong Kong is launching a new campaign on Monday to promote good hospitality in the city, complementing the concept of “Tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong”.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Hong Kong’s tourism chief, Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, said authorities have been mulling the introduction of the new campaign to address incidents where tourists have been treated impolitely.
He said the new campaign aims to encourage the industry to warmly welcome tourists while authorities will recruit young people to share their experiences living in the city.
The Tourism Board will also release new promotional videos to encourage citizens to promote Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Acting Secretary for Education, Sze Chun-fai, suggested schools introduce activities related to courtesy in response to the campaign.
He said schools could encourage students to be courteous to others through lessons and organizing special activities.
"Courtesy ambassadors" will also be chosen among students to promote good hospitality in Hong Kong, Sze added.
