Trains painted with ever-popular Doraemon travel through three lines

The famous manga icon Doraemon has graced Tuen Mun Siu Hong Station of the Light Rail Line, while three special trains featuring the character's design will run on the Light Rail Line, East Rail Line, and Airport Express.

The MTR Corporation announced on Monday that it has launched the "Doraemon Themed Platform" at Siu Hong Station - one of the key stations in the New Territories transportation hub - with blue as the main color theme and adorned with promotional posters throughout.

The doors of the trains with Doraemon livery were painted pink as the Doraemon tool "Anywhere Door." The front and rear of the train also have bells and a tail symbolizing Doraemon.

The ceilings, straphangers and seats also feature Doraemon's characters.

Citizens gathered at Siu Hong Station on Monday to take photos with the specially-themed train. Many even brought Doraemon dolls and wore commemorative T-shirts.

Tse, who came with a Doraemon doll and balloons, said she was happy to see Hong Kong filled with Doraemons.

She also enjoyed the drone show featuring the characters that was held last Saturday (May 25). Tse said there are many anime fans in the city and holding thematic activities can stimulate spending.
