The 22-storey Treasury Building in Cheung Sha Wan officially commenced services on Tuesday.
Apart from the headquarters of the Treasury, the building also accommodates offices of more than 10 government departments - including the Audit Commission, the Registration and Electoral Office, the Office of the Communications Authority and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer.
Located at 3 Tonkin Street West, the building also houses a family medicine clinic, an elderly care center, a child care center, and a recruitment center under the Labour Department to provide various services to the public.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the building on Tuesday, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said the design of the Treasury Building echoed the history of Cheung Sha Wan as the center of Hong Kong's textile and garment industry.
He noted that the building has also won several architectural awards and certifications, making it "a truly outstanding green building."
