The Inter Miami team led by Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi finally arrived in Hong Kong on Friday for the friendly fixture with the city’s XI two days later.
The team aboard a private jet touched down at Hong Kong International Airport around 3 pm this afternoon.
The team was supposed to be greeted by government officials but left the stage after the media took pictures of them.
The football icon will later attend a press conference alongside his former Barcelona teammates including Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez.
The team will stay at Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong in Aberdeen during their visit.
About 30 fans have been waiting outside the hotel in hope of catching a glimpse of the Argentine super star.
Some also displayed their jerseys with Messi’s name and, who knows, maybe their jerseys will be signed by the former Barcelona captain himself.
Messi last visited Hong Kong in October 2014 as the Argentina national team were invited for a friendly fixture with a Hong Kong XI to celebrate the centenary of then Hong Kong Football Association.
Hongkongers were able to see other famous Argentine footballers including Gonzalo Higuaín, Ángel Di María, and Javier Mascherano.
