Around 8,000 people participated in the first-ever Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HK Section) Half Marathon on Sunday morning.
The first batch of runners began their run at 7.40 am, with Secretary of Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki and Director of Immigration Kwok Joon-fung firing the starting shot.
Hong Kong film star Chow Yun-fat was among the many runners for the inaugural event.
Some participants wore accessories with the country flag, while one even wore suits for their run.
The other two groups of runners start separately after 8 am.
Runners will run via the Scenic Hill tunnel towards the bridge's Hong Kong section and return to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point as the finish line, with the whole race about 21 kilometers.
Chan said on social media today that the half-marathon event is not only the first time it is held but also the first running event since the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Finally, he again called on voters to vote in the District Council election on December 10.
