The transition committee of the Rosaryhill Secondary School, which is set to close after the 2025/26 academic year, recommended its students switch to Yu Chun Keung Memorial College No 2 (YCK2) starting next school year.
The school announced the closure plan in mid-September, which led to backlash from teachers, students, and alums.
The committee recommended on Monday that the students from Form 1 to Form 5 transfer to YCK2 next September to continue their studies.
The school said switching to a new school as early as possible could be the best option for the students to enjoy normal school life, and also a higher chance for the teachers to be able to transfer to the same school as well.
It added that senior secondary students were given the option to finish their studies at Rosaryhill, while junior students could choose to switch to a new school after completing the Form 3 curriculum.
The committee added that if less than half of the students decided to switch to YCK2, it would plan to ask the Form 3 student to transfer to another school at the end of every school year. The school also planned to work with other schools to arrange special entry for Rosaryhill students.
Representatives from Form One to Five will be arranged to visit YCK2 on Friday (Nov 10), while parents plan to visit the school this Saturday (Nov 11). YCK2 will also hold an open day at the end of November.
