The Drainage Services Department said Monday morning it had logged nine reports of flooding as typhoon Koinu dumped large amounts of rainfall over the night.
The department said the nine confirmed cases include two in the Eastern District, two in Yuen Long, two in Sai Kung District, and one each in Yau Tsim Mong District, Southern District, and the Islands District.
It added that none of these cases are severe, and the floodwater has already receded in six of them in Yau Tsim Mong District, Eastern District, Sai Kung District, and Islands District.
The department also said 80 emergency response teams have been deployed to monitor and inspect locations prone to flooding, and to clear clogged drains.
Citizens were reminded to stay away from rivers, and residents living near rivers should closely monitor the change in water levels, evacuate in a timely manner, and report any choked rivers or drains to the department through its hotline 2300 1110.
