Hong Kong golfer Taichi Kho won the first Asiad gold in golf for Hong Kong on Sunday, in addition to a bronze at the team event.
Today at the Westlake International Golf Course in Hong Kong, Kho Taichi was able to defeat rivals such as Korean PGA Tour star Im Sungjae and Taiwanese golfer Hung Chien-yao after obtaining a result of three under par in round 69 and bringing his total score to 27-under-par for the whole event, bagging gold after a narrow one-stroke victory.
He had also previously won team bronze with his teammates Hak Shun-ya, Matthew Cheung Hung-hai and Ng Shing-fung.
Kho stamped his mark as the first Hong Kong golfer to win Asiad gold. Under the tutelage of his father, he started playing golf at the age of 5 and joined the Hong Kong team in 2009.
In his rookie season as a professional, the 22-year-old became Hong Kong's first Asian Tour title winner in March and was given the opportunity to participate in the British Open, one of the four major championships that comprise the golf Grand Slam, becoming the first Hong Kong golfer to do so.
