In supporting the Hong Kong Arts Month – which falls in March every year – Sino Group has taken part in the Street Art Festival 2023 organized by HKwalls, providing the city’s biggest street art event with its first-ever digital art platform, and an art harbor cruise to foster art exchange among the younger generation.
For this year’s festival, the Group has specially invited the acclaimed Spanish street artist J. Demsky to create a digital artwork on the multimedia walls of the Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre. Covering a sprawling 4,000 square meters, “VLTRAPHOTONICS” is set to liven up Victoria Harbour with vibrant colors every night.
Facilitating the popularization of art and promoting the development of arts among the younger generation in Hong Kong has always been at the heart of the Group’s mission. And in furthering this effort, it has offered an art harbor cruise in collaboration with HKwalls, inviting arts and media design students from local post-secondary institutions to board Aqua Luna for a one-night docent-led cruise tour on Victoria Harbour, where they have the opportunity to view and appreciate J. Demsky’s spectacular digital artwork “VLTRAPHOTONICS” up front.
Sino Group is dedicated to promoting arts and culture to enrich people’s everyday lives and advancing the development of the creative industries. Over the years, it has supported many large-scale arts events and provided platforms for young artists to showcase their works to the general public, at the same time broadening the community’s exposure to art.
“We are delighted to collaborate with HKwalls to promote arts in the Hong Kong Arts Month and bring the artwork of a renowned Spanish artist to Victoria Harbour,” says Andrea Leung, Group General Manager (Marketing), Sino Group. “This helps popularize arts and boost the art vibes in the city, and we would also like to nurture students’ art creativity through the art cruise event so that they know their works could one day be shown across Victoria Harbour.”
Leung adds that Sino Group would like to nurture the younger generation in becoming art docents, and has invited youngsters from universities and colleges who are interested in art events, to join the guided tour of street murals in Central and Western District this weekend.
On joining hands with Sino Group for this meaningful event, HKwalls’ founder Jason Dembski says that they are “thrilled to work with Sino Group to advance the popularization of art in Hong Kong through the street art festival initiative.”
“The Art Cruise is especially meaningful as it provides an opportunity for local university and college students to step out of the classroom and enjoy viewing a world-class digital artwork from Victoria Harbour. Together with the docent’s explanation, this will stimulate their creativity and discernment, and enhance their understanding of the design industry,” Dembski adds.
